An Act Relating to the Creation and Administration of the Cemetery Vandalism Fund

The Vermont legislature is in session and Bill H. 810 An Act Relating to the Creation and Administration of the Cemetery Vandalism Fund has been introduced. The bill proposes to create a Cemetery Vandalism Fund to repair cemeteries that have been vandalized, impose a $1.00 fee on every burial or cremation, and grant authority to the Vermont Old Cemetery Association to administer the fund. The bill was read the first time and referred to the House Committee on General, Housing and Military Affairs on January 31, 2014. Sponsors include Representatives South of St. Johnsbury, Cupoli of Rutland City, Fay of St. Johnsbury, Goodwin of Weston, Juskiewicz of Cambridge, Larocque of Barnet, Mitchell of Fairfax, Shaw of Pittsford and Shaw of Derby. On February 13, 2014 Tom Giffin, President of the Vermont Old Cemetery Association, testified before the committee in favor of the bill.
