VOCA Spring Meeting 2016

The 2016 Spring meeting of the Vermont Old Cemetery Association was held on Saturday, May 7, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary – St. Anne Hall in Rutland, Vermont. Coffee hour ran 9 to 10 AM. A rousing business meeting was conducted from 10 to Noon. Lunch was served and a great presentation was given by Bill Powers. Bill presented a pictorial and narrative of Lake Dunmore’s legendary “Aunt Jennie" (1856-1934). Famous for her Lake Dunmore Tea House and nearby restaurants at Brandon, and the Vermont State Fair in Rutland, Jennie's father and husband were Civil War veterans who died at early ages. Widowed and raising her family, she became a legend in tenacity and perseverance. Charlie Marchants' many years of service were recognized by Dianne Leary on behalf of the membership. Members and guests were in attendance from all over the state!
