May 20, 2017

A gravestone restoration workshop was held at Barber Cemetery on Greenbush Road in Charlotte, Vermont on Saturday May 20, 2017 beginning at 8 a.m.

The workshop focused on straightening leaning gravestones and dozens of stones were righted.

Pete Demick of Vermont Walkways & Stone Preservation Limited conducted the workshop along with our own James LaBerge.

The workshop was sponsored by the Charlotte Cemetery Commission and the Vermont Old Cemetery Association. Members of the Burlington and Williston Cemetery Commissions as well as area VOCA members participated.

Barber Cemetery has been in use since 1785, has a number of stones in need of epoxy repair, and is the resting place of Revolutionary War solder William Powell.
